Michigan Eagles & Ospreys
presented by Jerry Weinrich
Using his decades of experience “flying with the eagles,” surveying their nests by airplane, Weinrich, a retired DNR wildlife biologist, takes festival-goers soaring over Michigan, as he describes this magnificent bird’s comeback in northern Michigan.
Jerry Weinrich retired from the Michigan Department of Natural Resources Wildlife Division after a 31-year career. He worked with the Kirtland’s Warbler Recovery program his entire career and has performed bald eagle surveys for the past 30 years. His presentation will relate the story of bald eagle management and research in Michigan from a historical perspective. Special emphasis will be placed on Michigan’s Lower Peninsula and aerial surveys. Weinrich earned a bachelor’s degree from Lake Superior State University and a master’s from Iowa State University.
